National strategic land promotion company Richborough Estates has secured planning consent for the delivery of much-needed new family homes in Gilmorton.
Situated north of Kimcote Road, opposite Gilmorton cricket ground, the scheme was approved by Harborough District Council’s Planning Committee earlier this month. The development will deliver 43 homes of varying sizes, from one bedroom bungalows to five bedroom family homes, including 14 affordable dwellings.
In addition to much-needed high-quality housing, the new development will also deliver extensive areas of landscaped public open space, together with a designated play area and recreational space.
Steve Louth, Regional Director at Richborough Estates, said: “Working closely with the council and local community, the masterplan for the development has been designed to be sympathetic to the historic village and its key features. The mix of property types combined with the low total density of the site will act as a natural extension to Gilmorton.
“We appreciate the importance of retaining green areas at the heart of the community and the new development will offer both natural open space and land for recreational use including a dedicated play area. We look forward to bringing the site to market later this year and I’m confident that there will be strong market interest.”
Prior to submitting the application, extensive consultation was held with the Council, key stakeholders and local community groups. Chartered Surveyors and Development Consultants Wells Mcfarlane have been appointed to manage the sale of the site on behalf of Richborough Estates.
Trevor Wells, Director at Wells McFarlane, added: “We chose Richborough Estates to be the land promoter for this site having had previous sites successfully granted with their involvement.
“The Richborough team, in close collaboration with planners and the local community, have drawn-up plans that are both sympathetic to the existing nature and style of the village while providing contemporary dwellings that will meet the needs of the local community, offering homes for people at all stages of the property ladder. The team has skilfully addressed any planning obstacles with a positive approach which has assisted in achieving the desired outcome.”
