Water Orton

Richborough Estates is proposing new family housing and areas of public open space in Water Orton on a green belt site totalling 9.64 hectares. An outline planning application is to be submitted shortly. We have held two Public Consultations, Water Orton and we propose the scheme outlined below after listening to comments made at these meetings. Click here to view photo of consultation.

It is proposed to provide new family housing on land between Birmingham Road and Plank Lane. It is envisaged there would be a mix of detached, semi-detached and mews style homes with differing numbers of bedrooms, set within a mature landscape framework.

We have assessed how we think the site could be developed and the main features are:

  • Provides approximately (up to) 120 houses. Mix of 2, 3, 4, 5 bed properties
  • Includes houses for sale below open market prices with priority given to people from Water Orton
  • Retains majority of existing trees and hedgerows along Plank Lane and Birmingham Road
  • Open space strategy based principally on a central ‘village green’
  • Two separate development areas – eastern parcel vehicle access from Plank Lane and the western parcel vehicle access from Birmingham
  • Off-site allotment area
  • An off-site sports ground of 8 hectares, possibly for use by Water Orton Cricket Club
  • On-site parking for the residents of Orton Close
