Baldwins Gate Development Approved

We have won an appeal for planning permission with an award of costs for a residential development in Baldwins Gate, Staffordshire.

The approved development will deliver up to 113 residential units within the area, bringing with it economic and social benefits including educational contributions to the local primary and secondary school, along with new public open spaces and play areas.

We originally submitted an outline planning application to Newcastle-under-Lyme Council for the development in August 2013, which was refused against the officer’s recommendation to approve the application on the basis that it was not considered to be sustainable development. We chose to appeal the decision in November 2014 because we believed that the proposed development would contribute to sustainable development in an area where Newcastle-under-Lyme District Council was unable to demonstrate a five year housing supply.

The Inspector granted permission for the development on 12 January 2015 and granted a partial award of costs. We are pleased that the Inspector has recognised the significant benefits that the development will bring to the local community which we now look forward to seeing delivered.
